FAQs

A lowboy is a small table with drawers, typically used during the 18th century as a dressing table, side table, or writing desk in domestic interiors.

They were predominantly constructed from solid oak or walnut, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and traditional mortise and tenon joinery for the frame.

Authenticity is indicated by period-appropriate timber shrinkage, hand-forged or cast brass drop handles, pegged joints, and signs of genuine age-related wear on the working surfaces.

This versatile piece functions effectively as a hallway console, a compact desk in a study, or an accent table beneath a mirror in a living space.

Maintain the surface by applying natural beeswax periodically, avoiding silicone-based polishes, and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight.
