Description

This is a really superb quality English Regency (1820) side cabinet or chiffonier in rosewood with fully adjustable shelves to both the top and bottom section, very much in the manner of Gillows.

I have shown the slim top section with two shelves and one, but also a detailed photo of the wonderful shelf supports, which are also made in solid rosewood.

Super colour to the rosewood, more of a golden tone than the typical which works so well with the brass grille and glass doors, lined with a pale silk that can be changed if you would rather a different fabric.

Good size piece of furniture, but still elegant with the shallow depth and the top section being set back so you have a surface area too…this would make a fabulous drinks cabinet perhaps, or display bookcase.

Great condition and of high quality, the top section does detach from the base for transport…delivery is no problem to arrange, wherever you are!

Measuring:

57 3/4 inches or 146.5 cm high

52 inches or 132 cm wide.

14 1/2 inches or 37 cm deep base section

7 1/2 inches or 19 cm deep top section

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Regency and Victorian furniture styles are characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the prominent use of exotic hardwoods like rosewood, often featuring subtle classical ornamentation and brass detailing.

Authentic period pieces were constructed using solid hardwoods and veneers such as rosewood or mahogany over a secondary wood core, utilizing traditional joinery techniques like dovetailing and mortise and tenon joints.

Authentication relies on inspecting interior secondary timbers, hand-cut joinery marks, natural patination and oxidisation of the wood, and historical construction methods rather than modern fixings.

Pair the rich grain and deep tones of the rosewood with neutral walls, minimalist furnishings, and curated collections of books and objects to balance traditional weight with contemporary lightness.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding extreme humidity fluctuations, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished wooden surface.
