This Georgian delft rack dates from the eighteenth century, between 1760 and 1780. Constructed from pine, the piece has a dark brown timber finish with a natural patina, a moulded cornice, and a pierced fretwork frieze running along the top. The structure incorporates three central plate shelves fitted with horizontal retention bars, flanked by open side alcoves with shaped upper borders, showing original condition with signs of age. Measuring 139.7 cm high, 140.3 cm wide, and 17.8 cm deep, the rack serves as wall-mounted storage suitable for placement above a sideboard in a kitchen, dining room, or living area to display plates and decorative ceramics in a rustic farmhouse setting.

A delft rack is an open wall-hung or dresser-top shelving framework crafted to hold and display tin-glazed earthenware, pewter, and porcelain plates popular during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Traditional delft racks were predominantly constructed from native hard and soft woods such as oak, pine, or elm using hand-cut joinery, pegged tenons, and hand-planed moldings.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-tooling, hand-forged iron nails or wooden pegs, age-related timber shrinkage, original hanging bracket marks, and hand-cut architectural elements such as fretwork or shaped aprons.

An antique delft rack can be mounted above a dining room sideboard or kitchen counter to display ceramic collections, cookbooks, or decorative art objects, adding historic architectural depth to modern spaces.

Preserve the finish by dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish annually, while avoiding harsh liquid cleaners, high humidity, and direct proximity to heat sources.
