Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A dumb waiter is a piece of tiered occasional furniture developed in 18th-century Britain, featuring two or three graduated circular trays fitted around a central column to allow diners to serve themselves without servants present.

Georgian dumb waiters were primarily crafted from solid dense mahogany, featuring hand-turned central columns, moulded tray edges, tripod bases, and brass castors.

Authentic 18th-century examples display period-correct hand-turned spindle column details, naturally aged dark patination, original brass castors or fitting marks, and circular trays that often retain hand-planed undersides.

A dumb waiter works effectively as a drinks stand, plant display platform, or occasional side table positioned in an empty room corner or living room alcove.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
