Long Coffer Bench

17th century
Description

A Transylvanian box converted in to a bench. The rear leg & the upright of the back support is hewn from one block of wood. The restrained decoration, grey iron-hard beechwood & the generously-sized wooden nail or peg that divides the piece, suggest that it is 16th or 17th century. The back leg has been replaced.
