This nineteenth-century Moorish Revival side table stands as an octagonal occasional piece, constructed from hardwood with extensive bone and mother-of-pearl inlay. The warm brown timber surface displays geometric marquetry patterns and intricate floral motifs across the flat top, accompanied by contrasting white floral inlays across the frieze panels and legs. Below the structured top, the frame incorporates pierced Moorish arch cut-outs supported by straight upright legs joined by lower stretchers, with visible light-coloured bone inlay dots accentuating the vertical supports. Standing at 52 cm high, 50 cm wide and 50 cm deep, this side table fits neatly beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa to hold a lamp, books or decorative objects in a living room.

Moorish Revival furniture from the 19th century features geometric marquetry, mother-of-pearl or bone inlay, and architectural forms inspired by Islamic arches and arabesque patterns.

These tables were constructed primarily from dense hardwoods such as walnut or cedar, embellished with hand-cut mother-of-pearl, bone, or contrasting wood tesserae set into carved recesses.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut, slightly irregular inlay pieces, natural surface oxidation, traditional joinery, and minor variations indicative of handcraftsmanship.

Position the table as an accent piece beside a structured sofa or armchair to create visual contrast against modern upholstery and clean architectural lines.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or humid environments to prevent wood movement and loosening of inlay pieces.
