Exceptional Regency Mahogany Work Table

Description

An exceptional 19th Century Work/ Dressing Table with a wonderful dry-burnished surface and beautiful, untouched colour. Inlaid with expertly cut and chased mother-of-pearl featuring flowers, birds and insects. This is a superbly drawn piece, clearly made by a master craftsman, with a well-fitted interior having a mirror and secret compartments. The stem, with carved acanthus leaf, sits above an inlaid hexagonal section that flows seamlessly into the base, which is further inlaid and has well-shaped ogee feet. The top was originally made with a thread fixing, which is still in place and enables it to be removed.
