Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver pocket watches were portable mechanical timepieces produced during the nineteenth century, typically featuring solid silver cases, white enamel dials, and manual key-wind or stem-wind mechanisms.

These timepieces were built using sterling or continental silver for the outer casing, fired enamel over copper for the dial, glass for the crystal cover, and brass and steel for the internal movement components.

Authenticity can be verified by checking for official assay hallmarks stamped inside the case back, hand-painted or printed Roman numerals on the dial, and period-correct mechanical key-wind escapements.

Pocket watches can be mounted on a dedicated brass display stand under a glass cloche dome, arranged in a velvet-lined shadow box, or suspended from an antique watch fob stand on a desk or mantelpiece.

Keep the timepiece stored in a dry environment to prevent oxidisation, polish the silver casing gently with a specialised microfibre cloth, and ensure the movement is periodically serviced by a qualified horologist.
