Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The American Watch Company, later known as Waltham, was founded in the mid-19th century and pioneered the mass production of precision timepieces. Silver-cased pocket watches were widely produced as reliable and accessible personal timekeeping devices during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These timepieces typically feature sterling or coin silver cases, fired enamel dials with painted numerals, steel hands, and brass mechanical movements containing synthetic or natural jewel bearings.

Authentic examples feature maker markings on the dial or movement, serial numbers stamped inside the case back or on the movement plates, and hallmarks or silver purities stamped inside the metal case.

An antique pocket watch can be displayed on a dedicated metal or wooden pocket watch stand under a glass dome, integrated into a shadow box frame, or positioned alongside desk accessories in a study.

Silver cases should be polished gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove oxidisation. Mechanical movements require periodic servicing by a trained horologist to clean gear trains and renew specialized lubricants.
