Antique ‘The County’ English Silver Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

Antique ‘The County’ English silver pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name of the watch, ‘The County’, together with the details of the original retailer, Butt & Co Ltd, 32 Eastgate Row, Chester. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1915, with a maker’s mark for the English watch maker John Rotherhams & Sons. The case is in lovely condition.

The glass lens is in lovely condition (some natural light reflection showing in the front photos).

The dial is signed with the name and address of Butt & Co of Chester, again with the model name, ‘The County’. Pin-set blued-steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
