This late Victorian walnut hanging cabinet dates to circa 1890 and is finished in a warm brown tone. The piece includes an upper open display shelf and a lower cabinet section enclosed by twin mirrored doors fitted with bevelled glass. The side panels display shaped outlines with pierced fretwork decoration, complemented by small circular wooden buttons, tiered mouldings around the mirror frames, and tiny brass knobs on the doors. Foxing is visible on the mirror glass. The wood surfaces show natural grain patterns and a polished finish. The cabinet measures 69.5 cm in height, 58 cm in width, and 16.5 cm in depth. Practical for placement on narrow wall spaces, this wall-mounted cabinet is suitable for use in a bathroom, hallway, or living room to provide compact storage and display space. The item fixes directly to the wall and offers a combination of open shelving and enclosed mirrored storage.

Late Victorian wall cabinets, produced during the end of the 19th century, typically feature dark hard woods like walnut, decorative fretwork, pierced side panels, and mirrored inserts influenced by the Aesthetic and Arts and Crafts movements.

These units were constructed using solid walnut, mahogany, or oak, secured with hand-cut joinery, and fitted with silvered mirror glass panels alongside brass mounting hooks and door latches.

Authentic period pieces exhibit age-appropriate oxidisation on brass components, natural foxing or de-silvering on mirror glass, hand-sawn reverse panels, and evidence of historic joinery rather than modern uniform fixings.

Position the piece on an accent wall, in an entryway, or within a bathroom to display small ceramic items, glassware, or toiletries while adding vertical depth to the room layout.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly using a soft lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually, taking care to clean mirror panels separately to avoid moisture contact with the surrounding wood.
