LVS Decorative Arts has dated this piece to the 1890s.
This table consists of a profusely inlaid mother of pearl, abalone and various exotic wood top with central inlaid panel of Arabic symbols surrounded by geometric designs with inlaid borders and stringing with outer inlaid mother of pearl and abalone border.

This leads down to eight side panels, all with mother of pearl and exotic wood inlaid design and inlaid wood decoration below, in between each of these sections a broken black and light wood line design, the eight legs forming an arch between each section giving the table an architectural influence from the East.
The first Liberty & Co.
Liberty & Co. developed the idea of decorating rooms in an 'oriental' style in the 1880's and exhibited various items with styles from Exotic countries.

Similar examples of these tables from Liberty & Co. can be seen in the book 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915, The Birth of Modern Interior Design' by Daryl Bennett, pages 28,29,30 etc. where they are referred to as coffee stools or coffee tables.

This table is in very good original condition for age and can go straight into a home making an ideal lamp table or bedside table.
