Description

A decorative pair of French Paris porcelain figures dating to the mid–late 19th century, modelled as a gallant and his lady in 18th-century costume. The figures form a masquerade courtship scene, reflecting the Parisian revival style inspired by Vion & Baury and the continued popularity of fête galante themes.

Executed in glazed polychrome porcelain, the figures display a luminous surface and finely preserved decoration. Unmarked Paris porcelain of this quality is well documented for the period, particularly among smaller ateliers working within the broader revival movement.

This harmonious and visually engaging pair represents a confident example of 19th-century French decorative porcelain, with strong appeal to collectors of Parisian revival figures.

Lady: height 22.7 cm, width 12.5 cm, depth 11.7 cm, weight 800 g.

Gentleman: height 25.5 cm, width 12.5 cm, depth 11.5 cm, weight 941 g.

Condition:

Lady: excellent antique condition. Examined under UV light; no cracks, no restoration. Polychrome enamels and gilding are well preserved.

Gentleman: the index finger of the right hand is chipped. Minor losses to the gilding. Firing cracks to the base of the column against which the figure rests. Otherwise in excellent antique condition. Examined under UV light; no cracks or restoration detected.
