Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian fold-over games table is a mid-to-late nineteenth-century occasional table featuring a swivel and hinged top. When closed, it functions as a wall console, and when opened, it reveals a flat playing surface, often lined with baize fabric for card playing.

These tables were typically crafted from solid timber cores overlaid with decorative veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, or rosewood. The interior surfaces often incorporated wool baize, leather, or inlaid timber details.

Authentic pieces feature period construction methods, such as hand-cut joinery, original brass hinges, natural timber oxidation beneath the frame, and carved pedestal bases characteristic of nineteenth-century cabinetmaking.

When closed, the table works as a decorative entry console, side table, or accent piece positioned in an alcove. Display simple contemporary ceramics or table lamps on top to contrast with the elaborate historical wood grain.

Maintain the timber surface by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying high-grade beeswax twice yearly. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiator heat sources, and moisture to prevent veneer lifting or warping.
