Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency cheval mirror is a full-length dressing mirror originating from the early nineteenth century, mounted on a four-legged wooden frame with dual upright posts. The mirror glass is pivoted between the supports, allowing the user to adjust the angle of reflection.

Authentic pieces from this period are predominantly constructed from dense, high-grade mahogany, often embellished with reeded details and brass fittings. The mirror plate features mercury silvering or early fluted glass, supported by splayed legs terminating in brass cap castors.

Look for characteristic construction markers such as hand-cut joinery, reeded or fluted upright columns, finial caps, and brass brassware. Premium cabinetmakers like Gillows often stamped their name on the top edge of drawers or structural rails, alongside using high-quality mahogany timbers.

Place a floor-standing mirror in a dressing room, primary bedroom suite, or wide hallway where its tall proportions add depth and light. Combining dark mahogany woodwork with neutral contemporary walls creates a sophisticated contrast between classical craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain the mahogany frame by regularly dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually. Avoid harsh liquid glass cleaners on the original mirror plate, applying glass cleaner sparingly to a cloth rather than directly onto the surface to protect the silvering.
