Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A lowboy is a small chest of drawers or side table designed during the 18th century, commonly supported on cabriole or turned legs. Originating in the Queen Anne and Georgian periods, these tables served primarily as dressing tables or hallway accent pieces.

Georgian lowboys were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak. The drawers frequently feature solid timber linings with hand-cut dovetail joints and cast brass batwing or swan-neck handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved details, hand-sawn drawer linings, and hand-cut dovetail joinery. Look for signs of age-appropriate wear, hand-cast brass hardware with original fitting marks, and irregular underside tool marks.

A Georgian lowboy functions effectively as a statement console table in an entryway or as an accent side table beside contemporary seating. Position modern artwork or a decorative table lamp above it to balance historical craftsmanship with clean contemporary lines.

Keep the wood preserved by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax paste once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and finish degradation.
