Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Satsuma pottery is a distinct style of Japanese earthenware that originated in the Satsuma province during the late sixteenth century. It is recognised by its cream-coloured crackle glaze and elaborate hand-painted polychrome and gilded enameling.

Authentic Satsuma wares are crafted from a dense earthenware clay body, finished with a clear glaze that develops a fine crackle network, and decorated using mineral-based overglaze enamels and gold leaf or gold paint.

Meiji period pieces typically display dense, intricate painting depicting historical, mythological, or religious figures such as Arhats. They feature dark red, blue, and heavy gold enameling alongside maker marks or Satsuma mon seals stamped on the base.

A Satsuma vase serves as a focal accent when displayed on a dark wood sideboard, inside a glazed cabinet, or atop a fireplace mantelpiece to create visual contrast against neutral backdrop tones.

Clean Satsuma ceramics using a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Avoid immersion in water or the use of harsh chemical detergents, as these can strip delicate gilding and damage the porous earthenware beneath the glaze.
