A 19th-century arched gilt wall mirror is characterised by a wooden frame coated with gesso and gold leaf, featuring gently rounded upper corners or an arched crest. Popularised during the Louis Philippe and Victorian eras, these mirrors often feature classical beaded mouldings, leaf borders, and decorative corner cartouches.

These mirrors were constructed using a carved timber frame covered with layers of white gesso plaster and red or yellow clay bole.
