Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian bureau bookcase is a two-part piece of case furniture developed during the 18th century, featuring a slant-front writing bureau at the base and a glazed display cabinet above.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid and veneered mahogany, featuring oak or pine drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, brass drop handles, and hand-blown glass panes in the upper doors.

Authentic 18th-century bureaus exhibit hand-sawn drawer construction, irregular hand-blown glass, original brass hardware with cast face marks, and natural timber shrinkage on unseen back panels.

Position the unit as a focal point in a home office or living space, styling the upper glazed shelves with a mix of books and ceramics while leaving the writing slope closed to maintain clean lines.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking or fading, dust regularly with a soft cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the finish.
