Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A cylinder top bureau bookcase is a dual-purpose piece of furniture featuring a curved, quarter-cylinder wooden lid that rolls back to reveal a writing surface, surmounted by a glazed cabinet for storing books.

These pieces typically showcase flame mahogany or walnut veneers over oak or pine carcasses, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, brass fittings, and mouth-blown float glass panels held within intricate astragal glazing bars.

Authentic examples demonstrate hand-planed timber surfaces, original brass locks and escutcheons, hand-cut joinery inside the internal drawers, and subtle imperfections in the hand-blown glass panels.

Position the piece as a focal point against a neutral accent wall, using the upper display section for curated ceramics alongside books, while utilising the pull-out desk surface for modern home office needs.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage or fading, and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the direction of the timber grain.
