In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian bureau bookcase is a two-section furniture piece developed during the eighteenth century in Britain. It combines a sloped fall-front writing bureau at the base with a tall, glazed cabinet above for storing and displaying books.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or walnut, often featuring secondary woods like pine or oak for drawer linings. Glazed doors used hand-blown glass held by wooden glazing bars, finished with cast brass hardware.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed back panels, and original brass bail handles or escutcheons. Look for irregular glass panes with minor air bubbles or distortion, which indicate period manufacturing.

A bureau bookcase functions well in a contemporary study, hallway, or living room as a focal anchor piece. Style the interior shelves with a mix of modern ceramics and literature while utilizing the drop-down desk surface for daily writing or workspace storage.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and finish fading. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the natural grain of the timber.
