Kazak prayer rugs are traditional hand-woven textiles created by nomadic and village weavers in the Caucasus region, characterised by bold geometric motifs and an arch design known as a mihrab.

These rugs were hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation, coloured with natural plant and mineral dyes.

Authentic pieces feature hand-tied knots visible on the underside, slight colour variations known as abrash due to natural dye batches, and a flexible wool warp and weft structure.
