Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Persian Bidjar Rug to the 1870s.
The pale blues, pink/red tones and greens are all natural dyes and have faded beautifully over the last 140 years.

One end has been professionally and expertly rewoven, as this is a rare design and early rug, it was worth saving this rug and having the damaged end fully restored. The three minor borders at the bottom end of the rug have been re-woven using antique wool and to the untrained eye would you struggle to see it has been done. Please view all the images which show the back and end of the rug and the restoration. The rest of this rug is in excellent order and has a nice wool pile, some corrosion to the darker brown dyes due to the iron properties in this colour.
