Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bidjar rugs originate from the town of Bidjar and surrounding Kurdish villages in north-western Iran. Known for their extreme structural durability and dense weave, these textiles were historically crafted using heavy beating techniques, earning them the moniker of iron rugs of Persia.

Traditional Bidjar rugs are hand-knotted using high-grade wool pile tied onto a heavy cotton or wool foundation. Weavers use a symmetrical Turkish (Ghiordes) knot and hammer down wet double-wefts to compress the pile tightly, producing an exceptionally heavy and dense structure.

Authentic Bidjar rugs are distinguished by their notable weight, rigid backing that resists folding, and dense pile. Key visual indicators include stepped central medallions, intricate floral or Herati pattern work, and saturated dye palettes featuring terracotta red, deep blue, and cream.

An antique wool rug acts as an anchoring centerpiece in contemporary or classic rooms. Position it centrally under furniture groupings on wood or stone flooring to add texture, geometric structure, and warm colour tones to neutral interior schemes.

Vacuum the rug regularly using suction only without a rotating beater bar to protect the fibres. Promptly blot liquid spills with a clean dry cloth, place a quality rug pad underneath to prevent slippage and wear, and utilize professional wool-safe rug cleaning services when required.
