Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Aesthetic Movement of the late 19th century rejected heavy Victorian ornamentation in favour of simplicity, often drawing inspiration from Japanese design principles and emphasizing craftsmanship.

Cabinetmakers predominantly utilised hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and sometimes bamboo or ebonised timber to achieve both structural stability and refined decorative finishes.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining traditional joinery methods, natural material ageing, timber shrinkage, and hand-turned structural elements consistent with 19th-century workshop practices.

This piece works effectively as an accent surface in modern spaces, serving as a display platform for botanical elements, ceramics, or sculptures to add vertical dimension and warmth.

Maintenance requires avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, complemented by occasional dusting with a dry, soft cloth and sparing application of traditional beeswax.
