Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian birdcage tripod table is an 18th-century occasional table featuring a three-legged base, a central stem, and a square wooden cage mechanism that allows the circular top to both swivel 360 degrees and tilt vertically for space-saving storage.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany, featuring hand-turned central columns, hand-cut dovetail joints securing the birdcage block, and hand-carved cabriole legs dovetailed into the base of the stem.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-saw marks on the underside, wrought iron or brass catch mechanisms with historical patination, hand-cut screws, and slight shrinkage turning the circular top slightly oval over centuries.

Position the table beside an armchair or in a window recess as an occasional drink table, or tilt the top vertically when placed against a wall to highlight the timber grain as a decorative feature.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent cracking, wax periodically with a natural beeswax polish, and operate the tilt-and-swivel catch gently to avoid excessive wear on the wooden block.
