Emerging during the 18th century, a tilt-top tripod table features a circular top mounted on a central pillar supported by three cabriole legs, designed with a hinged mechanism to tilt vertically for compact storage when not in use.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid mahogany, featuring a hand-turned central column, a square birdcage or block swivel mechanism, and hand-carved legs ending in pad or claw-and-ball feet.
