Victorian Oak Monk Bench

Handsome Victorian monk’s bench / hall seat / settle made from solid oak in excellent condition with amazing patination. This very decorative item has carved panels to the back depicting what looks like a brawl inside and outside tavern. The solid oak arm rests are carved in the form of lion with the heads facing inwards. The base is profusely carved with foliage with masks of the green man to the front. The seat lifts to a very clean interior which provide storage for boots, shoes, bags etc. This is not only beautiful to look at, but also a very practical piece of history with amazing colouring and beautiful graining.
 
All measurements are done to the widest point .
