Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch prayer rugs were traditionally woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes living in the border regions of eastern Persia and Afghanistan. These textiles served both spiritual and practical functions, characterized by a pointed mihrab arch that indicates the direction of prayer.

These rugs are typically constructed using hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and warp/weft structure, occasionally incorporating goat hair for selvedges. Dyes are historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, producing deep reds, dark blues, and earthy tones.

Authentic pieces feature asymmetrical hand-tying, soft and high-grade wool, a dark palette dominated by madder red and indigo, and specific motifs such as stylized trees of life or geometric hand panels framing the arched mihrab field.

Due to their rich tones and intricate geometric patterns, these small-format textiles are commonly used as wall hangings, layered over neutral flat-weave carpets, or positioned as focal points in entryways, studies, and reading nooks.

Regular care requires gentle vacuuming without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling fibers. Spills should be blotted immediately with a damp cloth, and professional cleaning should be performed using water and pH-neutral wool detergents.
