Where should I place a stick stand?

These pieces belong naturally in a hallway, porch or boot room where outdoor clothing and accessories gather. Positioning the stand near the primary entrance ensures wet umbrellas and walking sticks find an immediate home upon entering the house.

How do I protect the oak from wet umbrellas?

Most traditional stands feature a metal liner or removable drip tray positioned at the base to catch moisture. Emptying and drying this tray regularly prevents standing water from damaging the interior timber staves over time.

What is a coopered stick stand?

A coopered stand is constructed from curved vertical wooden staves held together by tight metal bands, mimicking the build of a small barrel. This method was particularly favoured for country house umbrella stands due to its inherent strength and water-tight design.
