What is a partners desk?

A partners desk is a substantial double-sided piece featuring drawers and cupboards on both faces, allowing two individuals to sit opposite each other. These desks formed the centrepiece of institutional libraries and large country house studies where administrative work was shared.

Are these desks suitable for daily use?

These pieces were built for heavy administrative duties using dense timbers and robust construction methods, making them well-suited for modern study spaces. Their generous writing surfaces and deep drawers provide practical storage while maintaining a formal aesthetic.

What chairs match these desks?

Library armchairs and office desk chairs from the Victorian and Georgian periods pair naturally with these writing tables. Many feature leather upholstery, open mahogany arms and high backs designed for comfort during long hours of reading or writing.
