Are these tables converted from older items?

Several pieces originate as side tables, chests, or trays subsequently adapted to function at a lower coffee table height. This practice repurposes sturdy timber frames while retaining their historic patination and construction methods.

How do I identify Edwardian examples?

Edwardian pieces often display lighter wood tones, refined inlay work, and stylistic restraint compared to heavier Victorian counterparts. Evidence from the period points toward polished mahogany and oak constructed with precise joinery.

What timber types are most common?

Oak and pine form the majority of the inventory, supported by elm, mahogany, and yew wood. Each timber brings distinct grain patterns and weight characteristics that influence the overall appearance of the table.

How should I care for a rustic wooden surface?

Maintain the timber by keeping surfaces dry and avoiding direct exposure to intense heat sources. Natural oils and wax applications help preserve the historic finish without masking the grain.
