What periods do these artworks cover?

The works date from the early decades of the twentieth century, specifically spanning the nineteen-hundreds through to the nineteen-forties. This period encompasses the core working years associated with British Impressionism. Most examples cluster around the nineteen-tens and nineteen-twenties. These dates reflect active decades of regional landscape painting.

Where are the locations depicted?

The subjects range widely across British landscapes, with a strong emphasis on Yorkshire valleys, Wharfedale, and rural farmsteads. Other pieces record coastal views, marine settings and European locations. Specific titles reference places in Scotland, the Isle of Man, Brittany and various northern rivers. This geographical spread shows an artist travelling to capture diverse natural light.

What mediums are used?

The selection consists primarily of oil paintings executed on canvas or wood supports. These provide durable surfaces suited to rich pigment application. Watercolour paintings on paper also appear within the collection. These works offer a lighter, more transparent record of gardens and rural views.

How should these paintings be displayed?

These works suit traditional domestic interiors, particularly rooms with natural light that complements the Impressionist palette. Proper framing helps protect the canvas or paper surface from environmental wear. Placement away from direct sunlight preserves the integrity of both oil pigments and watercolours. Simple hanging allows the atmospheric qualities of the landscape to command attention.
