How do I care for the leather?

Leather upholstery requires regular conditioning to maintain its flexibility and prevent cracking over time. Keep the material away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Applying specialised balms helps preserve the natural grain and colour of historic hide seats.

Are these chairs suitable for daily use?

Solid oak frames provide immense structural stability, making these chairs well-suited for regular dining room placement. The sturdy timber construction withstands frequent movement and sitting. Checking the joints periodically ensures the frame remains tight and secure during everyday activities.

What periods do these chairs represent?

The available selection spans from the nineteenth century through the 1930s, encompassing Victorian, Edwardian, and later periods. Revival aesthetics from these decades often look back to seventeenth-century forms. Craftsmen drew upon Jacobean and Gothic traditions to create substantial seating for homes.

How are sets usually assembled?

Dining sets often range from pairs up to large groupings of twelve or fourteen matching chairs. Finding extended sets from the nineteenth century requires careful matching of carved details and timber tone. Smaller pairs frequently serve as occasional hallway seating rather than dining room suites.
