How do I date an oak armchair?

Dating relies on examining construction methods, tool marks, timber shrinkage, and stylistic indicators such as revival motifs or vernacular regional traits. Were these chairs used at desks?

Many sturdy oak elbow armchairs functioned as desk or study chairs, particularly wider carver forms designed for writing spaces. Their substantial frames and supportive elbow rests made them practical for prolonged seating at library tables and office desks.
