Regional preferences often determine usage, with continental European pieces frequently described as appliques and British or American pieces termed sconces.

Can these wall lights be wired for electricity?

Rewired fixtures allow safe integration into contemporary domestic lighting circuits. Buyers should verify the internal wiring standards of any historic lighting fixture before final installation in a home.

How do I clean gilt bronze and ormolu?

Dusting gently with a soft, dry brush prevents the accumulation of dirt within the intricate recessed details of the metalwork. Harsh chemical cleaners must be avoided to protect the delicate gilded surfaces. Professional conservation advice is recommended for deeper cleaning or restoration of historic metal finishes.
