What periods do these paintings cover?

The available selection spans from the seventeenth century through to the mid-twentieth century. Pieces reflect prevailing aesthetic movements of their respective decades. Buyers will find Victorian works alongside Impressionist and mid-century modern interpretations of coastal life.

How should I hang an oil painting?

Select a wall space away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity to protect the oil paint and canvas. Proper picture wire and wall anchors suited to the weight of the gilt frame are essential. Maintain stable room temperatures to prevent the wooden stretcher frames and canvas from warping over time.

How do I identify a coastal scene's location?

Artists often inscribed titles, signatures, or location names on the reverse of the canvas or on the stretcher bars. Quayside landmarks, specific vessel types, and architectural clues within the brushwork also offer geographical context. Signatures linked to documented regional art movements, such as the St Ives School, help pinpoint the origin.
