How do I choose the right size?

Consider the scale of your bedroom and mattress dimensions, remembering that antique frame sizes can differ slightly from modern standards. Double and king size formats dominate the available selections. Measure your available floor space carefully to ensure the carved posts and projecting footboards fit comfortably within the room layout.

Are these beds structurally stable?

Most antique wooden and metal frames are built to last using traditional joinery and heavy gauge metals. Modern mattress support can easily be integrated into the historic bedstead. Check how the side rails secure to the headboard and footboard to guarantee rigid alignment before setting up the bed.

How do I care for antique wood?

Dust the carved walnut and mahogany surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dirt accumulation. Avoid placing the wood near direct heat sources or strong sunlight. Apply a quality furniture wax occasionally to nourish the timber and maintain a soft, protective sheen across the grain.

Can I use modern mattresses?

Standard modern mattresses generally fit within these frames, though older inner dimensions may require slight customisation of modern slats or bases. Verify the interior width and length before purchasing. Low-end and no-end bed configurations offer flexibility for mattress depth and headboard visibility.
