Where should I place a half moon table?

These crescent pieces suit narrow hallways, landings, and entrance foyers where depth is limited. Their flat edge rests snugly against the wall, providing a surface for lamps or ornaments without obstructing walkways.

Are marble tops original to these tables?

Many console tables feature fitted marble or rouge marble slabs integrated into the design from the start. Heavier stone tops provide stability to freestanding crescent frames, particularly in neoclassical and Edwardian examples.

How do I distinguish between periods?

Nineteenth-century models often showcase rich mahogany, kingwood, or detailed marquetry with bronze mounts. Later pieces from the nineteen-twenties and thirties lean towards painted finishes, simpler walnut structures, or wrought iron.

Can these function as bedside tables?

Certain smaller versions and cabinet variants function effectively as bedside storage. Pairs of demilune tables appear in nineteenth-century and nineteen-twenty formats specifically configured for bedside use.
