What periods do these paintings cover?

The available selection spans from the 17th Century through the Victorian era and early 20th century up to the 1960s. Each era brings distinct stylistic approaches to the canvas surface. Buyers will find Dutch Baroque portraiture alongside British Impressionism and mid-century landscapes.

How are these artworks constructed?

Makers applied oil paint and pigment onto woven canvas stretched over wooden supports. Many pieces include traditional timber or giltwood frames. The combination of oil, fabric and wood forms the primary physical structure of these fine art pieces.

How should I hang a framed oil painting?

Ensure the wall fixings match the weight of the wooden stretcher and giltwood frame. Secure hanging wire or brackets directly to the primary frame structure. Keep oil paintings away from direct heat sources to protect the canvas and pigment over time.
