How do I hang a heavy brass chandelier?

Heavy fixtures require direct support from a ceiling joist using an appropriate metal bracket and hook system. Weight distribution must rest on the structural framing rather than the lath and plaster. Electrical connections should be routed through a certified ceiling box capable of bearing the total mass of the metal and glass components.

What rooms suit a crystal pendant light?

Pendant lights and small chandeliers function well in hallways, dining spaces, bedrooms, and drawing rooms where focused downward illumination is desired. Compact plafonniers suit rooms with lower ceiling heights. Larger multi-arm chandeliers require higher clearance to allow passage underneath while providing balanced ambient light across the space.

How do I clean antique brass and glass?

Dust glass drops regularly with a soft cloth and wash them in warm soapy water only when removed from the metal frame. Harsh chemical cleaners strip gilt finishes and damage fragile metal surfaces. Clean brass frames with a dry or lightly dampened microfiber cloth to preserve the aged patina developed over the decades.

Are these lights compatible with modern wiring?

Many older fixtures arrive with updated electrical flex or have been rewired to meet current safety standards. Inspection by a qualified electrician ensures internal wiring meets local regulations. Original brass galleries and holders can typically accommodate contemporary LED candle bulbs that generate less heat than older incandescent types.
