What periods do these pairs come from?

The pieces span several eras, including the eighteenth century, the Victorian period, and the early decades of the twentieth century. Craftsmen across these periods utilised traditional methods and styles like French Empire, Neoclassical, and Chinoiserie.

How are marble tops used?

Marble serves as a durable and decorative surface on bedside cabinets and commodes, offering a contrasting texture to wood and paint. These stone slabs sit atop the wooden carcass to provide a water-resistant and polished working surface.

What materials make up the finishes?

Surfaces are finished with black paint, clear lacquer, or ebonisation to darken the underlying wood. Additional decorative elements often include hand-painted Chinoiserie scenes and applied brass or nickel hardware.

How do I match them to a bedroom?

Matching pairs provide visual balance when placed on either side of a bed. Consider the height of your bed relative to the table surface and the existing colour palette of your room.
