How do I wear vintage cuff links?

Fasten them through the buttonholes of French cuff shirts, ensuring the decorative face remains outward facing. Rigid bar fittings slide straight through, while chain links require careful manual threading. Pair them with tailored evening wear or sharp business suits to let the geometric metalwork stand out against plain shirt fabric.

Are these cuff links solid gold?

Many examples utilise solid yellow, rose, or white gold, typically marked at nine or fourteen carats. Others employ gold plating, silver, chrome, or platinum over base metals. Check the reverse side or connecting bar for hallmark stamps indicating the exact metal purity and place of origin.

What is modernist style in jewellery?

Modernist design embraces stark geometric abstraction, industrial materials, and functional simplicity. It breaks away from ornate floral motifs in favour of clean lines and stark colour contrast. Enamel sections on these pieces often feature repeating stripes, chevrons, or asymmetrical arrangements characteristic of this aesthetic.

How should I clean enamel cuff links?

Wipe the surfaces gently with a soft, damp microfiber cloth to remove dust and skin oils. Avoid chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaners, as harsh solutions can damage the vintage enamel. Store them individually in a lined box to prevent scratching against other metal accessories.
