What fits on a folio stand?

These stands are built to hold oversized books, maps, architectural drawings, and large graphic portfolios flat or resting securely at an angle. They allow you to store bulky volumes safely without bending the spines or damaging the paper contents inside.

How do adjustable shelves work?

Many nineteenth and early twentieth century bookcases utilise wooden ratchets, brass pegs, or metal side strips to let you move shelves up and down. This adaptability means you can house everything from pocket volumes to massive folio editions within the same piece of furniture.

Are these stands suitable for small rooms?

Tiered whatnots and narrow waterfall bookcases occupy very little floor space while offering multiple levels of vertical storage. Their open construction keeps a room feeling light and spacious rather than weighed down by heavy cabinetry.

How do I care for mahogany and oak?

Keep timber library furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the wood from drying out and the finish from fading. Regular dusting with a dry cloth and occasional application of appropriate wax will maintain the natural lustre of the grain.
