Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This freestanding Edwardian fishing rod rack is a tall piece designed for an English gentleman's residence or a country home. The body uses solid oak with a warm brown timber colour, showing a vertical tongue-and-groove panelled backboard behind two horizontal notched support rails and a moulded cornice at the top. The base contains recessed circular sockets to hold rods upright, and the structure stands on short bun feet. The item measures 189 cm high by 107 cm wide and 27 cm deep, holding up to eight rods and related equipment. In a modern interior, this piece serves as functional storage for a hallway, boot room, or study, accommodating fishing gear or walking sticks while maintaining a traditional sporting aesthetic. The design brings a Highland hunting lodge atmosphere to the room, blending practical utility with classic woodwork proportions suitable for collectors or enthusiasts of rural sports.

Designed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these specialized stands were crafted for British country houses, gun rooms, and tackle rooms to store and display bamboo and greenheart fishing rods safely in an upright position.

These racks were predominantly built from solid native hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or pitch pine, featuring joinery techniques like mortise and tenon joints, tongue-and-groove backing panels, and precision-cut recessed bases.

Authentic period pieces display period-appropriate joinery, natural oxidative wear along the slotted rails, original recessed base sockets designed for traditional rod butts, and a rich, undisturbed patina on the oak finish.

While originally intended for angling equipment, these stands function effectively in modern hallway spaces, boot rooms, or entryways as unique umbrella stands, walking stick holders, or architectural decorative features.

Keep the wood dusted using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to nourish the timber. Ensure the piece is kept away from direct heat sources to prevent warping or shrinkage of the wood panels.
