A Georgian bow-front corner cabinet is an 18th-century piece of storage furniture designed to fit flush into a wall corner, featuring a convex curved facade known as a bow front.

These cabinets were primarily built using solid mahogany or oak for the outer frame, often incorporating pine or fruitwood secondary timbers alongside brass hinges and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit hand-planed backboards, hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brass H-hinges, and original keyhole escutcheons with natural patina.

Mounting a corner cabinet in an underutilised dining room or hallway corner adds functional storage and architectural interest without taking up valuable floor space.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber.
