Luminous Summer Landscape, 1926 Impressionist French Oil on Canvas

Description

This impressionist painting captures the very essence of summer. Dating from the 1920s it has an absolutely timeless feel. The vitality of the the central tree is palpable - strong and expansive, it really is a force of life.

You can almost hear the gentle rustling of leaves and the burbling of the brook in the foreground. Shades of green and gold blend together to create a sense of abundance and growth. The scene is so serene and tranquil that it is hard not to feel a sense of peace.

It is a work by Georges Marius Géo-Lachaux, a French artist born in 1891 who who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants. Géo-Lachaux delighted in painting joyful and luminous land and cityscapes.

Our oil on canvas is signed and dated 1926 at the lower right. Measuring 65 x 50 cm, the overall framed size in its original frame is 75 x 61 cm
