Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French repeating carriage clock is a portable spring-driven timepiece developed in France during the early nineteenth century. Designed originally for travel, it features a push-button repeating mechanism that strikes the last hour or quarter on an internal bell or gong.

Antique carriage clocks were typically constructed using cast brass or gilt metal cases fitted with bevelled glass panels on all sides to display the movement. Dials were made from white enamel or decorated with pierced metallic mask surrounds.

Authentic nineteenth-century French carriage clocks often feature maker stamps, trade marks, or serial numbers on the back movement plate. Period features include heavy cast brass construction, hand-bevelled glass panels, and a lever platform escapement visible through the top window.

Position a brass carriage clock on a fireplace mantel, polished sideboard, or writing desk to create a refined historic focal point. Combining metallic brass finishes with dark timber or natural stone surfaces highlights the classical architectural outline of the case.

Keep the clock in a dry space with a stable ambient temperature to protect the brass finish and delicate steel movement components. Clean the brass exterior with a soft microfibre cloth without abrasive chemicals, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
