Antique Tribal Qashqai Rug, Small Size & Classic Design, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 5ft 5in x 3ft 10in (164 x 116cm).

This rug is an excellent example of nomadic tribal weaving by the Qashqai tribe.

Circa 1900.

The rug has three medallions on a dark indigo blue field, each medallion containing the Qashqai tribal emblem. The field is filled with large boteh and flowers. The outer field is in madder red with floral and tribal designs in each corner.

The rug was very soft fine wool and superb dye quality giving glowing colours.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
