Folkard & Son Brighton Carriage Clock

Description

Here we have a small carriage clock with push repeat and bell strike. The case is typical 'gorge' style and bright polished. The glass is all bevelled and original 'white' glass from the period. The dial is signed by the retailers Folkard and Son of Brighton who were purveyors of fine clocks. This carriage clock would have been made for them in the French workshops and to my eye, most likely early Jacot without a stamp. The clock is wound from the rear and has hand setting. The clock will run for a week. The bell is light and pleasant. This clock has had a complete dismantle-strip down service and carries our 24month guarantee. The original escapement on this clock has an 18400 Bpm which is a little unusual too.
